A gentle reintroduction …

Well.

It’s been a while. No seriously, it’s actually been a while. Like maybe what, 5 months?

Okay, I actually don’t have any excuse for why I haven’t posted on here. I guess life has been life-ing, and honestly, I have been trying to figure out what I want to use this space to work on. So rather than trying to write a long ass post here and bore you all to tears, I thought I would do some key updates:

  1. Work - well most of you are aware that I have just finished my first year as a fully fledged data scientist. And I cannot believe I’m saying this, but I’m really enjoying it? I’ve been lucky to be put on a super cool project that falls into sustainability development and it actually combines my love of food and data together. However, it’s meant that I have not had the opportunity to bake as much as I used to. And on that note …

  2. Baking - this has been the biggest hit time wise this year. During lockdown I was maybe baking twice a week, sometimes more. It’s the reason why my page was able to flourish the way it did. Whereas these days, I’m now lucky to bake once a fortnight! I do still love creating food though and I’ve been trying to rebalance how I can fit baking and content creation into the demands I have in life

  3. Shift in content focus - As you’re all aware, I am a scientist although I would argue that I have fully embraced my role as a mathematician. And so more and more recently, I have been working on ways with how I can talk about maths through the medium of food! Now I am going to admit, I don’t know how that’s going to look. But I’m actually going to use this blog as a space to figure that out.

Finally, I found when I started this blog, I felt the need to be perfect with my writing. Consequently, this resulted in me not writing. Like at all. And given that I pay for this domain, I am hoping to change that. Will I still post recipes? Yes. Will there be some BTS? Yes. Will I post just general Poku thoughts? Also yes.

And will that in mind, I am now going to end this with a photo of a brilliant bagel I had during my NYC trip. And for the next blog post? Who knows what I’ll write about. Peace!
